A Portsmouth man faces multiple drug charges after being arrested by city police about 6 p.m. Saturday.

Police said officer Aaron Cooper noticed Lee A. Riley, 19, of 340 Summit Street, walking around Farley Square and questioned him.

According to reports, police found a bag of marijuana and a smoking pipe in Riley's pocket and took him into custody in the 1400 block of Robinson Avenue.

During a subsequent search, officers said they found blister packs labeled as Benadryl, and it looked as if the packs already had been opened.

According to the report, police officers opened a capsule with white powder inside and after having it tested, the contents were identified as cocaine.

Riley was arrested on charges of possession of drugs-marijuana, drug paraphernalia, possession of drugs-cocaine, trafficking in drugs-contains cocaine.

Riley was incarcerated in the Scioto County jail where he was released on his own recognizance Monday afternoon.

A Scioto County Sheriff's spokesperson said that he was released on a charge of trafficking in drugs, two counts of drug abuse and a charge of drug paraphernalia.

Riley is scheduled to appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court on August 3.
