Portsmouth City Council canceled its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday because three members did not show up.

At least four members must be in attendance before a meeting can proceed. But with Vice President Marty Mohr, Jerrold Albrecht and Tim Loper not in attendance, the Council did not have a quorum.

Only President Howard Baughman, David Malone and Bob Mollette were present.

Baughman adjourned the meeting after the benediction and Pledge of Allegiance.

“Jerry Albrecht is down in the back,” Baughman said. “Marty Mohr called. But I did not speak to him so I don't know why he's not here. And Mr. Loper was here this afternoon, so I don't know.”

Loper attended City Council's public hearing on rental licensing fees.

All the items on Monday's agenda will move to the May 22 meeting.

City Council meets on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at the municipal building on Second Street.
