Local musicians and classic cars will be featured at the “Live at Five” series in Boneyfiddle this year.

“Live at Five” will be on the following dates: May 5, June 2, July 7, Aug. 4 and Oct. 6.

Each event will take place from 5-9 p.m. and will be on Second Street between Court and Market streets.

The Downtown Boneyfiddle Committee and the Scioto Antique Motor Club are hosting the monthly shows.

“My goal is to eventually have 400 or 500 cars and 2,000 or 3,000 people each week,” motor club member Dave Pack said. “The bridge is going to open and we need to get that excitement going downtown. We want downtown to be a place where people come to and spend money at.”

The Ohio Department of Transportation plans to open the U.S. Grant Bridge by Oct. 31. However, ODOT Public Affairs Officer Kathleen Fuller has said it will probably be open in August.

This year marks a change in the schedule. In past years, the concerts were weekly instead of monthly.

“Live at Five” was dying out,” Pack said. “So we decided to make it monthly and have a car show with it.”

Pack said the idea for the car show came from the large show the car club has in Boneyfiddle each year during the River Days Festival.

Because of River Days, there will be no “Live at Five” in September.

All year model classic show cars, trucks and bikes are welcome, Pack said.

A photographer will be available to take pictures of the cars by the floodwall murals.

Also, local auto dealerships will have a car on display each week.

Visitors also can register for door prizes and 50/50 drawings. Boneyfiddle merchants will be open until 9 p.m. each week.

Food will be available from several Boneyfiddle restaurants.

“We don't want to set up a hot dog stand in the street or anything like that,” Pack said. “We don't want to take any business away from the restaurants.”

He said if the events are successful, more bands will be added each week.

“They will play at various locations,” Pack said. “Because if a band is playing on Court Street and you are on Market Street, you may not be able to hear it.”
