Those with concerns should attend Northwest board meeting

I am writing in response to a letter published in the March 11 edition of the Portsmouth Daily Times. The Northwest superintendent did resign, but why? A story on the front page in March quoted Dr. Ruth Teeters as saying she was willing to stay but needed support to do so. Why didn't she have this support and why did the school board accept her resignation? The board is held accountable through the elections, but they are also accountable for their actions during their terms.

When will the school board find the superintendent it believes fits in? With four superintendents in six years, when does starting over become a failure?

In the decision to accept Dr. Teeter's resignation, was everyone's best interest considered or just a chosen few that had their applecarts upset or egos bruised? The letter's author stated the best thing we can do is pull together for the best leadership we can find. In my opinion, until I hear otherwise, the board just let that person go. As you can see, I have more questions than I have answers. If citizens have questions as I do or are concerned about their child's education or decisions made by the board, I urge them to attend the school board meeting scheduled for Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Northwest High School Media Center.

Americans deserve better than Bush

Those of us in mid-America deserve better than the incompetence of the Bush Administration.

It is time for the Republican Congress to stand up to the Bush Administration and conduct its job of congressional oversight.

Democrats cannot do this alone because the Republicans are a majority. I have to believe that the corrupt Republicans are a minority of that party, surely.
