During the January 2006 meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary, a check for $8,000 was presented to Ellis Cook, Fire Chief for the South Webster-Bloom Township Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service. This will help finance the purchase of a heart monitor to assist in the care of the ill and injured in our community.
We have a great fire department and rescue squad volunteering their time to help everyone in South Webster and Bloom Township, as well as assisting neighboring departments when needed. The Ladies Auxiliary hopes to have your continued support during the year of 2006.

Conley Trucking takes Ohio 140
because of customers in the area
In regard to a letter that was submitted by Jeff Dempsey regarding Conley Trucking traveling on Harding Avenue and Highland Bend to avoid driving on Ohio 140, I would like to clarify this accusation.
Our trucks travel these particular roads to deliver material for J&H Erectors at Camp Bennett, J&H Erectors at the new Sciotoville schools and for KSA. Using these routes is not a shortcut for our trucks, but for business purposes only.

City of Portsmouth should
move garbage cans
I'm in favor of the city putting all the big, ugly garbage cans that pollute the sidewalks and front yards out of sight - like it used to be when everyone brought their cans in and put them out of sight until the next pickup day.
Idea! Take them and use them for a barricade to detour residents above the 2200 block of Mabert Road, where there are often many cars parked, over the hill. It's a hazard to get home. Drive through at your own risk when someone is coming down the road.
Also, speaking as a taxpayer, pay the Mollettes' attorney fees too! Outrageous!
