Now that police believe gang-bangers beat the 50-year-old man on the street in Milwaukee, where are Jesse Sharpton, and the Hollywood stars who came out en masse to preach “Tookie's” message against gangs? Where are statements from the local chapter and national headquarters of the NAACP? Why won't that street corner in Milwaukee be flooded each night by lights, cameras and media vans for the next two months or so? Where are the candle holders? Signs?
I think I know and sadly feel the duplicitous answer, and it's a travesty of the worst kind, endemic to our era when an unfortunate citizen is beaten to a pulp by uncivilized animals right out in the open, yet that man's sad predicament offers up no bling for our nation's cadre of script writers and media hustlers. And don't give me that crazy stuff about these poor kids don't have anything better to do than to protect their turf. If found guilty, these young monsters, some perhaps who've hustled the welfare system and made school systems miserable all their young lives, are criminals who deserve to be locked up forever for inflicting pain and misery on that gentleman citizen who simply honked his horn. And yes, I'm both awfully black and angry.
