Tonight's meeting is to organize

Portsmouth City Council will have an organizational meeting tonight at 7 p.m. at the municipal building.

Every other year, the council must elect a president, vice president and appoint a city clerk.

The meeting is open to the public.

Elementary plans ceremony

East Portsmouth Elementary, 5929 Harding Ave., Sciotoville, will have its official dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony Jan. 12. Events will include a parade beginning at Scioto Shoe Mart at 1 p.m.; ribbon cutting ceremony at 1:30 p.m.; an open house and chili supper from 6 to 8 p.m.

The school is now accepting open enrollment students in grades kindergarten through sixth grades for the new building. For more information, call (740) 776-6444.

PCSC Educational Forum is Jan. 18

The Portsmouth City School District Educational Forum will be at 8 a.m. Jan. 18 at Micklethwaite Room in the University Center at Shawnee State University. Breakfast will be provided.

More details will follow in a letter after the first of the year.
