An Adams County man died Thursday night after an accidental shooting.

According to a report from the Adams County Sheriff's Department, 911 received a phone call about an accidental shooting at 3875 Hackleshin Road, which is east of Peebles.

When deputies arrived, they found James P. Seymour, 25, of Seaman, had sustained a gunshot wound to the groin area. He was transported to the Adams County Hospital and then taken by helicopter to University Hospital in Cincinnati, where he died from his injury.

Deputies said the resident of the Hackleshin Road house, Sonny R. Knauff, 25, was arrested and detained pending charges of negligent homicide. He is being held in the Adams County Jail.

Detectives from the Adams County Sheriff's Office are continuing the investigation and are not releasing any further information at this time.
