4-H gets donations from OSU

The Scioto County 4-H Program has an endowed account through The Ohio State University, so even though the donation is to the university, it is then designated for the Scioto County 4-H account. There is currently more than $50,000 in the account and the program receives a little more than $2,300 each year to use in 4-H programming.

The funds have typically been used to provide scholarships, trips, awards, volunteer and member recognition and trainings, and programming supplies for the 4-H program.

There are more than 1,200 youth, ages 5 to 19, and 300 adult volunteers involved in the Scioto County 4-H Program.

Many of the 4-H members help each year by donating a portion of their livestock sales checks to the account during the county fair. This year the endowment received more than $900 from donations made by 4-Hers.

Anyone interested in learning about the 4-H endowment or the 4-H program may contact the OSU extension Scioto County at (740) 354-7879 or visit its Web site http://scioto.osu.edu and click on the 4-H Youth Development link.
