Safety Patrol reschedules breakfast

The Valley Safety Patrol has rescheduled its Pancake Breakfast with Santa from Saturday to 8 to 11 a.m. Dec. 17 at Valley Elementary School in Lucasville. Cost will be $4 and will include pancakes, sausage and drink. Santa will be available for pictures. There will be a silent auction.

Tickets will be available from any safety patrol member, at the school or at the door.

Price Is Right is canceled

The Price Is Right will be canceled for December because of the hectic holiday schedules. The next scheduled Price Is Right will be Jan. 17.

Fire department sets dedication

Wurtland (Ky.) Fire Department will have a dedication of its new station house at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the station house, located one block east from Chinns Branch Road on Wurtland Avenue, Wurtland. The station will be officially named the Heaberlin/Wellman Station in honor and in memory of the first two chiefs - Paul Heaberlin and Donald “Donnie” Wellman.

Cub Scouts plan coat and food drive

Pack 21 Cub Scouts will have a coat and canned food drive from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Kroger store and Deemer's Super Market, both in Wheelersburg. Donations will go to the Wheelersburg Baptist Church food pantry, area shelter for women and children, and local veterans.

Bikers for Charity set toy run for Sunday

The Bikers for Charity will be ringing bells and taking donations from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today in Portsmouth, New Boston, Wheelersburg and Minford.

Also, the Bikers for Charity will have a parade Sunday forming at 11:30 a.m. and leaving at noon, beginning at the Kroger store in Wheelersburg proceeding through Sciotoville to New Boston, through Portsmouth to the Portsmouth Motorcycle Club, Front Street. They will be picking up Santa, toys, bicycles and taking them to the Salvation Army. Participants in the parade will be asked to donate a toy and/or $5 to the toy run.

PHS presents Christmas concert

The Portsmouth High School Vocal Music Department will present a special Christmas concert at 2 p.m. Sunday in the auditorium at the high school, 1149 Gallia St.

Also, there will be the annual cookie walk and a huge bake sale.

The event is free and open to the public.

Holiday deadlines are announced

The Portsmouth Daily Times does not publish a paper on Dec. 25; therefore, the social and community news will be published in the Dec. 24 edition.

The deadline for anniversaries, engagements and wedding to be published Dec. 24 will be 4 p.m. Dec. 19.

The deadline for religious news to be published Dec. 24 also will be 4 p.m. Dec. 19.
