Shaking off the effects of Turkey Day, shoppers braved sub-freezing weather early Friday morning for two reasons.

Bargains and family tradition.

While television news channels showed footage of people fussing and fighting over their place in line, it was calm at Wal-Mart in New Boston as around 600 people lined up waiting for the doors to open at 6 a.m.

According to the New Boston Police Department, despite the large number of people, it was a quiet day. There were no reports of fist fights and the only thing to merit a police report near Wal-Mart was a minor fender bender in front of KFC.
