LOGAN - They had split in the regular season, but when Wheelersburg and Northwest played in the Division III District Semifinal, it all came down to the three D's, determination, desire and drive, said Northwest coach Judy Bayes.

The Lady Pirates had it on Thursday from the beginning, and never gave it up as Wheelersburg beat the Lady Mohawks in three sets 25-17, 25-19, 25-20.

Wheelersburg will play Albany Alexander, who beat Minford on Thursday in the district final.

“My kids have steadily improved all year, and we work as hard as any team around,” said Wheelersburg coach Carol Bialkowski. “We've been getting to that (high) level. We're just finally starting to click a little bit.”
