The Russell (Ky.) Junior High School band played as Fletcher exited his SUV, and the governor decided to try his hand at conducting.
“It's the first band I've got to conduct since I've become governor,” he told the crowd.
The Greenup County High School cheerleaders welcomed him with a routine.
After a couple of photographs, the governor got down to the business of dedicating the amphitheater, which is now entering Phase II of construction. The first phase was $150,000 and the state has put up $600,000 to finish the project by the end of next year. He said the amphitheater was part of an effort to “take it to the next level.”
