“The love of Christ compels us and if he loved us so much to give his life, we need to love others in that same measure,” Pastor Gary Heimbach said. “We love New Boston and we are thrilled to be a part of this community. These are special people.”
The church staged its Community Carnival from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., using the street and the church parking lot.
“This is a way just to say ‘New Boston, we love you. We are glad that you are a part of our lives and our community. And we just want to let you know we are here for you,’” youth pastor Corey Sullivan said. “We just want to extend an open hand to New Boston.”
The event featured inflatables, games, a dunk tank, music, face painting and more. And plenty of food.
“Hot dogs, chips, cookies,” Sullivan said. “We’ve got snow cones, popcorn, cotton candy, so we are making it a family event where families can bring their kids and just have a wonderful day together.”
Sullivan said the event was free to the public and it was all set up with a single goal.
“We said, ‘what’s our purpose?’ and our purpose is to just love New Boston, and let them know, hey, Cedar Street Church is here for you,” Sullivan said.
