The Lucasville Over 50 CLub will meet on Sept. 13 at the Valley Township Hall on Robert Lucas Road. Lunch will be a carry-in covered dish at 11 a.m. The meeting is open to anyone in the Lucasville or surrounding area.
Village trash pick-up schedule
The village of New Boston will not pick-up trash on Monday, in observance of the Labor Day holiday. Trash normally picked up on Monday, west of Glenwood Avenue, will instead be picked up on Tuesday next week. Trash pick up the rest of the week will not be delayed.
Tractor drive is Sept. 17
A tractor drive will be Saturday, Sept. 17. Those who wish to participate will meet at the Harris’ residence on AA Highway in front of the art and craft mall in Greenup County, Ky. They will be leaving at 10 a.m. and returning around 4 p.m. The group will travel north on Ky. 7 to Red Hot onto Laurel Road to Ky. 1, and they will be return onto Ky. 1 to Ky. 784, Lost Creek Road, onto Ky. 7, back to AA Highway to the Harris’ residence.
Lunch will be served at the Oldtown Fire Department by Hopewell Methodist Church. Donations will be accepted.

Contest deadline Sept. 30
The Scioto Soil and Water Conservation District is still accepting photographs for its 2011 photo contest. The contest is open to any amateur photographer who is a Scioto County resident or student. The theme for this year’s contest is “Farm Scenes,” The photograph must be taken in Scioto County between Oct. 1, 2010, and Sept. 30, 2011. The first-place photograph will receive $50 and be placed on the cover of the proposed Scioto SWCD 2012 calendar. The second- through 12th-place photos will all be placed in the 2012 calendar.
