The Ironton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate a motorcycle crash that claimed the life of a northern Ohio man.

James M. Payton, 50, of Alliance was pronounced dead at the scene by

the Lawrence County Coroner’s Office.

According to the OSHP, the one-vehicle crash occurred about 5:30 p.m. Sunday on Ohio 93, nine miles north of Ironton.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 1986 Honda Rebel was traveling northbound on Ohio 93 when Payton lost control and slid off the road and struck a guardrail.

Troopers said Payton was wearing a helmet and was alone on his motorcycle. His next of kin was notified at the scene.
