GREENUP, Ky. — Police responding to a shoplifting call at Dollar General Store in Wurtland arrested several people on charges of operating a methamphetamine lab.

Greenup County Sheriff’s deputies Jason Bryant and Rick Craft, to investigate the shoplifting allegations, drove to a residence at 124 Redbird St. in the Cardinal Point subdivision off Ky. 2, four miles south of Greenup.

The deputies said upon arrival they found the components used in the making of meth. Arrested were Melissa Stewart, 39, and Michael J. Rackley, 34.

Both were charged with manufacturing meth and with felony wanton endangerment of a juvenile, who was there.

Later, on Ky. 2, the deputies stopped two suspect vehicles. In one of them, which contained multiple items used in the manufacturing of meth, they arrested Katie M. Horsely, 30, of Ironton and charged her with multiple drug offenses.

Three people were arrested in the other vehicle and all three were also charged with multiple drug offenses.

The arrest report did not list the names of those three, said a clerk in the sheriff’s office. She said those names would be listed later Monday, after Bryant and Craft came back on duty.
