“We’re going to show everything that we’ve done,” owner Greg Davis said. “All the upgrades we have done to improve the place. The entire facility on the outside has been painted. We have new landscaping. We have new curtains. We’ve painted on the inside. In other words, we want the area to see all the renovations that we have accomplished.”
In February, the Ohio Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors suspended the license of the D.W. Davis Funeral Home, which operated from the same South Webster location.
In March, Jennifer Baugess of the Ohio Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors, said the funeral home’s license had been suspended because the board believed there was immediate public harm possible.
“The reason for the summary suspension was basically just general overall conditions of the funeral home and out buildings that he uses for holding or embalming,” Baugess said.
Davis said Monday that all of those issues are behind him, and the new operation is ready to serve the needs of the community.
“Our open house is an opportunity for the community to come in and take a look,” Davis said. “We’ve actually been open since the 6th of July, when we received our new license. It was a new facility, and we had to give it a new name, too, so it is now the Davis Funeral Home.”
Davis said his company will serve light refreshments Saturday during the event, as well as give tours of the facility.
Davis said the funeral home has a new website, too: www.davisfuneral.net.
“The story now on July 24 is that we are open. That’s the story,” Davis said. “No more or no less. We’re open for business and hoping to serve the citizens of the South Webster area as our family has since 1934.”
