Alice Marian Worstell Blevins, 87, of West Portsmouth, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at SOMC Hospice.

She was born Aug. 20, 1923, in Manchester to the late Arvel Glenn Worstell and Edith Caroline Tumbleson. Alice was a homemaker and attended Bigelow Church in Portsmouth.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60-years William Blevins, who she married June 21, 1944, in Dillon, S.C.; three brothers, James, Kenneth and Jack Worstell; and one sister, Wilma Worstell.

Alice is survived by a daughter, Sharon (Gary) Stamper of West Portsmouth; a son, William E. (Janice) Blevins Jr. of West Portsmouth; three sisters, Georgia Blevins of Zanesville, Erma King of Georgeton, Barbara Brown of West Union; seven grandchilden, David (Jennifer) Blevins of Aiken S.C., Robin Blevins of West Portsmouth, Caroline (John) Kipp of South Point, William (Chrissy) Blevins of Chesapeak, Va., Timothy Stamper of Brooksville, Ky., Joshua (Lisa) Stamper of West Portsmouth, and Danielle Stamper of West Portsmouth; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend Cheryl Blevins of West Portsmouth.

The family would also like to thank the staff of SOMC Hospice for their care.

Funeral services will be noon Saturday, July 23, 2011, at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Dave Distel officiating and interment in Sandy Springs Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, and one-hour prior to the service on Saturday.
