According to Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini, the county 911 center received a call Monday that a house on Mackletree Road had been broken into. Deputies responded to this location and observed that the house had been entered by force and several items were missing.
On Tuesday, the county 911 center received another call that another house, on St. Rt. 125, had also been broken into using force, and a deputy responded.
Reports were taken from both incidents and forwarded to detectives for an investigation.
Detectives talked to witnesses and gathered evidence that, they said, led them to a Stoney Run residence where Joshua Sadler, 33, of West Portsmouth and his wife, Stephanie Sadler, 32, of West Portsmouth were detained for questioning.
From this investigation, detectives said were able to locate and recover most of the stolen property, including a large flat-screen television and jewelry.
Joshua and Stephanie Sadler were each charged with two counts of second-degree felony burglary, two counts of third-degree felony criminal tools, fifth-degree felony possession of drugs, and possession of drug abuse instruments. Both were held on a $43,250 bond before their appearance in the Portsmouth Municipal Court. More charges will also be presented to a Scioto County grand jury on a later date.
Sheriff Donini asks anyone with any information concerning this burglary to contact Det. Matt Spencer at the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office, at (740) 351-1099. All calls will remain anonymous.
