Padgett is acknowledged worldwide as a master in the craft of egg engraving. Unlike with the better-known “Faberge” eggs, Padgett engraves an image onto the surface of a hollow egg, then applies colors to achieve the desired effect.
Her masterfully decorated eggs are in art collections across the globe, including the President William Clinton Presidential Collection. She also recently created gifts for Portsmouth’s sister cities: Great Corby, England, Orizaba, Mexico, and Zittau, Germany.
The maximum class size is 15, ages 8 and up, with sign-ups on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost of the class is $30, which covers materials including two eggs to be carved. Those interested in signing up for the class can do so at the Boneyfiddle Arts Center or call Padgett at (740) 876-9668.
