Jean was born October 13, 1924 in Thurman, Ohio to the late Howard and Maridoris (Williams) Lloyd. She was a graduate of Centerville High School, and later the Tri-State Business College, the Ohio University and the University of Rio Grande with degrees in business. Jean retired from the University of Rio Grande in 2006 where she served as the secretary to the Board of Trustees and University Archivist of the now named Jean Lloyd Cooper Archives in the Ester Greer Museum at the university.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband William L. Cooper, in 1996, and her only son, W. Keith Cooper, in 2002, as well as her brothers, William and John Lloyd, and twin sister, Janet Lloyd, in infancy.
Jean is survived by her daughter-in-law, Loretta Cooper, and grandson, Ethan Cooper; brother, Paul (Mamie) Lloyd; nephews, Kevin (Suzie) Lloyd, Dwight (Becky) Lloyd, and Hayden Lloyd; nieces, Karen (Greg) Spees, Alicia (Aaron) Kamer, Doris Lloyd and Bernice Lloyd; several great-nephews and nieces and great-great-nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 1 p.m. at the Kuhner-Lewis Funeral Home in Oak Hill, with Rev. Herman Stewart officiating Visitation will be two hours before the funeral service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mound Hill Cemetery in Gallipolis.
In lieu of flowers, charitable donations in Jean’s memory may be made to the Oak Hill Presbyterian Church or the University of Rio Grande Jean Lloyd Cooper Archives.
