New Boston trash pick up delayed

In observance of the July 4 holiday, the Village of New Boston will not collect trash on Monday. Trash normally picked up on Monday will instead be picked up during the regular Tuesday collection. The rest of the week will also remain on regular schedule.

Road work is announced

Craig J. Opperman P.E., Scioto County Engineer, announced the work schedule for Tuesday, July 5, through Friday, July 1, for his office.

Lane restrictions — Ohio River Road, CR 503, at the intersection of Lick Run Lyra Road in Porter Township will have lane restrictions on Tuesday, July 5, and Wednesday, July 6, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. Columbia Gas Company will be installing a gas line.

Road closure —

Gallia Pike Road, CR 01, in Porter Township will be closed Tuesday, July 5, and Wednesday, July 6, both day and night. The location of the closure is at the intersection of Oaks Street and Filmore Road being 0.50 mile from Lick Run Lyra Road and 0.90 mile from Ohio 522. County engineer’s crews will be installing a plastic pipe.

Gallia Pike, CR, 01, in Porter Township, will be closed Tuesday, July 5, and Wednesday, July 6, both day and night. The location of the closure is Dewey Avenue and Pirate Drive. County engineer’s crews will be repairing the road.

Bennett Schoolhouse Road, CR 12, at the 3.70 mile marker in Harrison Township will be closed Thursday, July 7, and Friday, July 8, both day and night. The location of the closure is between Glades Road and East Taylor Hill Road being 1.82 mils from Glades Road, 2.98 miles from West Taylor Hill Road and 0.60 mile from East Taylor Hill Road. County engineer’s crews will be installing a concrete pipe.

Mowing — Lucasville-Minford Road and Blue Run Road in Jefferson and Madison townships; Glendale Road in Jefferson Township, High Street in Harrison and Madison townships; Bennett Schoolhouse Road in Bloom and Harrison townships; Neff Bratton Road and Laurel Lick Road in Bloom Township; Kentucky Trail Road in Bloom, Harrison and Madison townships.

Bridge replacement — Furnace Creek Road, TR-233, in Harrison Township will continue to be closed through Friday, July 8, both day and night. The location of the closure is between Ohio 139 and Swauger Valley Road being 0.27 mile from Ohio 139 and 1.38 miles from Swauger Valley Road. County engineer’s crews will be replacing the bridge.

Mosquito spraying is planned

Ohio Pest Control in conjunction with the Valley Township trustees will conduct mosquito spraying from 7 to 11 p.m. Tuesday, July 5. If inclement weather prevents the spraying, then spraying will be done July 12 at the same time.

Ohio Pest Control in conjunction with the Porter Township trustees will conduct mosquito spraying from 9 p.m. to midnight Wednesday and Thursday, July 6 and 7. If inclement weather prevents the spraying, then spraying will be done July 13 and 14 at the same time.

Ohio Pest Control in conjunction with the Nile Township trustees will conduct mosquito spraying from 6 to 11 p.m. Friday, July 8. If inclement weather prevents the spraying, then spraying will be done July 15 at the same time.

Anyone with respiratory problems should consider closing their windows and shutting off window unit air conditioners until the fog has dissipated.
