Evelyn Louise Pratt, 86, of Portsmouth, went to her Heavenly home Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at Hempstead Manor. She was born Jan. 17, 1925, in Portsmouth to the late Thomas Alfred and Lula Belle Moulton McGlone.

Evelyn was a homemaker and a 1943 graduate of Portsmouth West High School. She attended Christ’s Community Church. As a young woman, Evelyn had worked at the former Schaefer Super Market, and as an inspector in a Flint, Mich., factory for the World War II war effort. She also had worked at the former Williams Manufacturing Company.

She was preceded in death Feb. 20, 2002, by her husband, Ralph Edward Pratt, whom she married Dec, 1, 1949, in Greenup, Ky.

She is survived by her son, Thomas Edward (Tina) Pratt of Toccoa, Ga.; her daughter, Laura Jane (Gary) Dilley of Portsmouth; seven grandchildren, Jeremy (Amy) Whitt, Matt (Anna) Whitt, Joni Hicks, Jenny (Kyle) Zeller, Jeff (Stacey) Dilley, Tom (Anje) Dilley, and Michael (Priscila) Dilley; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, George McGlone; nine sisters, Josie Burchett, Queenie Sparks, Ruby Vaughn, Clara Thompson, Pearl Burgess, Cora Wedebrook, Nevada Streby, Nell Slye, and an infant sister.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Rick Clark, minister, officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m., and one hour prior to services on Friday.
