Post 23 scored all five of its runs in the first two innings en route to a 5-1 win over Washington Court House Post 25. Post 23 is an unblemished 5-0 at home and 5-0 in SCOL action.
“Ryan Hackworth threw a good game for us (Monday) night,” Post 23 coach Jack Branon said. “He was able to pitch six very strong innings and hold them to one run. They're a pretty good team and he held them to one run.”
With the short turnaround, Branon was happy to see his team's physical and mental makeup in a crucial league contest. Branon credits the high school programs the players come out of in how they perform.
“If they get into situations, they know what to do,” Branon said. “They've been well-schooled by their high school coaches and we're fortunate that we have an awesome group of high school coaches around here.”
Wheelersburg's Brett Hood and West's Anthony Knittel each had two hits, a run and at least one RBI.
