Arvilla Jean Rowley, 82, of Colorado Springs, CO, formerly of Stockdale, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2011 in Colorado Springs following an extended illness.

She was born April 9, 1929 in Lucasville, a daughter of the late Dock and Elizabeth Colegrove Walker Sr. She was a graduate of Valley High School.

Arvilla worked with the Head Start Program in Pike County for a number of years. After moving to Florida she worked as a library assistant before retiring. She was an avid reader and loved to travel as well as see new places. When she retired and was not traveling, she worked crossword puzzles and watched Jeopardy.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her first husband Donald L. Selvage and her second husband James Rowley; a brother Dock Walker Jr.; a sister Patricia Colegrove Zerloff; two infant sons; a daughter Donna Rowley; a granddaughter and a grandson.

She is survived by five sons, Col. (Ret.) Donald R. (Rita) Selvage of Lakeland, FL, Larry (Judy) Selvage, of Lusby, MD, Randall J. (Eileen) Selvage, of Colorado Springs, CO, Mark Rowley of Piketon, OH and John (Judy) Rowley of Daytona Beach, FL; four daughters Nancy (Charles) Brunner of Stockdale, OH, Debra (Terry) Van Valkenburg, Gloria (Lee) Williams, and Rebecca (Jimmy) Holms all of Daytona Beach, FL; one brother Ronald (Pam) Crabtree of Piketon, OH; 20 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 2011 at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville. Burial will follow in Candy Run Cemetery. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
