He was born May 26, 1942 in Portsmouth to the late Paul L. Vernier and Midge Ferguson Vernier of Chillicothe. Roger was a former Manager of Burger Chef Restaurants, a former Special Deputy for the Scioto County Sheriff’s Department, a former member of Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department, a member of Nauvoo Masonic Lodge #769 and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran.
Along with his father Roger was preceded in death by his wife Dora Conley Vernier.
Roger is survived by 2 sons; Paul Roger (Sherry) Vernier Jr., and David Larry (Heather) Vernier, all of West Portsmouth, a daughter Leichia (Scott) Davis of West Portsmouth, 9 grandchildren; Roger (Tiffany ) Vernier III and Ryan (Sheena) Vernier, Alex, Michael and Nickolas Davis, Kolten, Dawson, Tanner and Aadyn Vernier, all of West Portsmouth and 3 great-grandchildren Gracie Sophie and Brayden Vernier, 3 stepchildren; Jenny (Barry) Carver, Lisa Montgomery and Eric (Jackie) Bell, all of West Portsmouth, and 6 stepgrandchildren.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2011 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Reverend Peter Michael officiating. Interment will be in Worley’s Run Cemetery with graveside military rites by James Dickey Post #23 American Legion. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday and starting at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
