An altercation Friday in the parking lot of the Marathon Service Station at 1554 Main St., Rarden, which resulted in the stabbing and cutting of Kenneth P. Nelson, and the arrest of Timothy A. Evans, 32, of 4729 Rarden-Hazelbaker Road, Otway, on charges of felonious assault with a deadly weapon or dangerous ordnance.
Deputies were dispatched to Kirker Road in Otway about 8:17 p.m. on a report of a man being stabbed and having his throat cut. When deputies arrived they found Nelson in the yard bleeding from his head and neck. The Rarden EMS squad arrived and treated Nelson before transporting him. He was later flown by medical helicopter to St. Mary’s Hospital in Columbus. A hospital representative said Monday Nelson was not a patient at the time.
According to deputies, several witnesses said Nelson had punched Evans in the mouth before Evans pulled the knife and cut and stabbed Nelson.
Deputies said they later recovered the knife from Evans’ residence.
