The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred about 1:15 p.m. Wednesday on County Road 403 at the intersection of County Road 775 in Lawrence County.

The crash claimed the life of Julie K. Ryder, 71, of Proctorville.

Troopers said a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Ryder was westbound on Irene Road, when her car was struck by a large garbage truck that was southbound on County Road 775 at the intersection of those two roads.

Toopers said the truck was driven by Ronald K. Long, 45, of Huntington, W.Va.

Julie Ryder and a passenger in her car, Jeffrey K. Ryder, 51, also of Proctorville were transported to St. Mary’s Hospital by the Lawrence County EMS, where Julie Ryder was pronounced dead.

Lt. M.R. Gore of the OSHP is asking anyone who might have witnessed the crash to call the OSHP at (740) 377-4311.
