Valley defeated Northwest to take the sectional championship in girls’ softball action Friday.

“It’s tough to beat the same team three times,” said Valley coach Montie Spriggs. “But we hit the ball well, played great defense, and came back and finished.”

The game was halted in the fifth inning for nearly two hours due to rain and lightning, then resumed to finish with Valley winning 5-0.

“It was sloppy but we got through it,” Spriggs said. “We got the sump pumps out and pumped the water out, then continued to play.”

Braiden Dillow picked up the win for Valley while Brooke Jordan was tagged with the loss.

Valley plays again at 4:30 p.m. Monday against Crooksville.

South Webster took the Division IV sectional final game against Symmes Valley in boys’ baseball action Thursday.

“The game was suspended from last night,” said South Webster coach Shanen Zimmerman. “I’m happy that the kids fought back after being down early on. They didn’t quit. They kept their heads in the game and kept their cool.”

The Jeeps rallied in the 6th inning after being down 9-6.

“Denver Fuller hit a double to tie the game,” Zimmerman said. “Andrew Salisbury stole second base and Mitchell Richardson the next pitch to put us ahead 11-9.”

South Webster’s next game will be the district semi-finals against Fairfield at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Chillicothe.
