Portsmouth City Schools will conduct all-day preschool registration for the 2011-2012 school year from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, May 13. Interested parents should attend the informational/application registration at East Portsmouth Elementary School, 5929 Harding Ave., Sciotoville. Parents are asked to bring the child’s birth certificate, shot record, Social Security card, proof of income, and custody papers (if applicable).
Eligibility will be prioritized based on program guidelines. Students must be 3 years old by Sept. 30 to be enrolled. Children need not be present for registration.
The all-day preschool classes are held at East Portsmouth Elementary School in Sciotoville from 8:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Transportation will be provided to all preschool students in the Portsmouth City School District busing area. School lunch and snacks will be provided.

Cheerleaders host tea
The Minford Varsity Cheerleaders will have a Princess Tea Party from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 13, at Minford High School, 491 Bond Road, Minford. Admission cost will be $10 and will include tea or juice in a take-home mug, cookies, and Kiss the Frog game. Bring your camera to have your photo taken with the princesses.
Craft activities will include teapot picture frame for $2 and princess tiara for $2.

Yard sale benefits camp
There will be a benefit yard sale from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, and Friday, May 12 and 13, at Wheelersburg Baptist Church, 11712 Gallia Pike, Wheelersburg. There will be hot dogs with sauce, cookies, banana bread and more available.
The sale will be used to promote Scioto Hills Christ Camp, which is located at 1009 Martin Road, Wheelersburg, and all proceeds will be used to give campers a great camp experience.
Vernon trustees announce cleanup
Community cleanup in Vernon Township will be through Saturday, May 14. Dumpsters will be located at the township garage on Ed Jones Road for the use of Vernon Township residents. There will be a dumpster for tires.
Notre Dame plans open house
Notre Dame Junior/Senior High School will have an Open House/Art Show/Spring Concert from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 12, at the school, 2220 Sunrise Ave. Area residents are invited to come and check out the schools. Teachers will be available to showcase their classrooms and projects while students will be giving tours of the school. Information will be available about new scholarships available to help with tuition.
Anissa Harr and her art students will be showcasing their talents in an art show. Melissa Hoffhines and the Select Chorus will present a Spring Concert at 7 p.m. in the Chapel. Refreshments will be served.
