Portsmouth has the highest gasoline prices in the region according to AAA East Central's Fuel Gauge.

The average price of a gallon of unleaded self-serve gasoline in Portsmouth is $4.02, two cents higher than Ironton. Gallipolis was not far behind at 3.97, while Waverly came in at $3.92, and Jackson and Chillicothe at $3.91. The average price in south central Ohio is $3.93.

According to AAA's Fuel Gauge, at the close of formal trading on the NYMEX Monday, crude oil settled at $112.28.

According to AAA, crude oil flirting with $115 per barrel coupled with the change from winter-blend to summer-blend gasoline taking place in many parts of the country means drivers have seen the price of gasoline at the pump continue to rise. The current national retail average price for a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline is $3.86.

Knoxville, Tennessee $3.66 a gallon. Closest refinery = 282 Miles

Portsmouth, Ohio $4.02 a gallon. Closet refinery = 30 Miles

Its the golden rule. "Whoever has the gold makes the rules."

it figure portsmouth has the higher gas prices . You take the highest unemployment rate and add high gas prices and what do ya get??= poverty. not to mention that I have been down here for thirteen years and portsmouth has always been the highest. I believe some one should look into corruption at the pumps. Or do I need to say price gouging.
