Charles E. Browning, 66, of McDermott, died Monday, April 24, 2011, at Heartland of Portsmouth.

He was born Aug. 18, 1944, in Portsmouth to the late Leonard Browning and Mary Girdler Lyons Browning. Charles was a Vietnam War Army veteran who had earned two Bronze Stars and was a retired truck driver.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Ada Mae Browning; three brothers, Paul, Jim and Joe Browning; one sister, Barbara Hatfield; and a grandson Bobby Lee McKelvey.

Charles is survived by three sons, Ed Browning of West Milton, Mike Browning of West Portsmouth and Billy Carr of Indiana; three daughters, Raylean “Sissy” Hartley of Xenia, Annetta McKelvey of Xenia and Michell Rubio of Wilmington; one sister, Mary Browning of Portsmouth; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2011, at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth, with George Vastine officiating. Interment will be in Scioto Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, and one-hour prior to the service on Friday.
