The Kiwanis Club of Portsmouth is set to host its annual Pancake Day from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the SOMC Friends Center. The event serves as the organization's largest fundraiser.

"We've been doing this (Pancake Day) for over 40 years. This event supports all of our worthwhile children's projects in the area. We rely on a lot of people to support this event so we can support our children's charities," said Rick Morgan of the Kiwanis Club.

Some of the projects made possible from the proceeds of the event include annual scholarships and Young Children Priority One, which provides funds for projects involving infants and young children among many others.

"Without events like these, those programs along with many others would not be possible," Morgan said. "All of the money raised goes back into the children's charity fund that's spent within our community."

Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased from Kiwanis Club of Portsmouth members or at the door during the event. Carry-out meals are available.

The meal includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, link sausage and a beverage.

Members and friends of the Kiwanis Club of Portsmouth will be on hand to serve and work the event.
