Ratcliff's walk-off homer lifts Green to win
Matt Ratcliff smacked a two-run home run in the bottom of the eight inning to give Green a 4-2 win over Clay in boys baseball action on Wednesday.
"The pressure was on and he came through," Green Coach Dan McDavid saId. "He hit a 1-1 pitch over for the win."
Clay took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Green tied the game in the bottom of the third and took a 2-1 lead after Keith Stepp hit a home run.
The Panthers tied the game in the top of the sixth inning.
"It was a great ball game," McDavid said. "T.J. McCloud pitched a great game."
McCloud scattered two hits and had 16 strike outs and did not allow any walks in the win.

Minford 8, South Webster 5
Justin Miller knocked in six runs to help lead Minford to an 8-5 win over South Webster.
Miller went 3-for-4 at the plate and had two doubles in the win.
"We started hitting better tonight," Minford coach Tim Martin said. "We settled in and we were patient at the plate. Justin had a big game with the bat."
Brandon Lore picked up the win for Minford and had nine strike outs.
"I was pleased with the way Brandon pitched," Martin added.
Tyler Sanford had two hits and two RBIs while Eli Duduit had two hits and scored three runs for Minford, and Levi Jenkins added two hits in the win.

The Panthers blasted three home runs en route to a 11-1 over Green in girls softball action.
Keeley Craft had a homer and was 2-for-3 while Holly Hempill had a homer and four RBIs whlie Jordan Jenkins smacked a homer. Jenkins picked up the win for Clay and had six strike outs.
"We jumped out early and the bats were hot," Clay Coach Dick McCleese said. "Jordan pitched a good game for us too."

Kelsie Conkey went 3-for-4 and had a home run to lead Minford over South Webster 11-1. Conkey also had four RBIs in the win.
Autumn Griffith picked up the win for Minford and had three strike outs.
The Falcons scored five runs in the third inning and four in the fourth to break the game open.

Notre Dame 15, Western 0
Miranda Pauley tossed a one-hit shut out as Notre Dame defeated Western 15-0.
Pauley piled up 11 strike outs in the win.
"She had a good game on the mound," Notre Dame coach Darrell Keller said.
The Titans scored three runs in the third and fourth innings, much to the delight of Keller.
"We were not ready to play in the first two innings," he said. "We had to get our focus back and the bats came alive."
Jen Arnzen and Sammy Marting each had home runs while Katie Steveson had an inside-the-park homer.

Wheelersburg 11, Oak Hill 1
The Wheelersburg Lady Pirates earned their third victory over the season in dominating fashion, topping the Oak Hill Lady Oaks 11-1.
Cheyenne French led the offense by going 3-3 with a triple, a double, three runs and two RBIs. Abby Sparks was another major contributor after going 2-3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs.
Others to chip in included Kalyn Bailey, who went 2-5 with two RBIs, Kelsey Jenkins, who went 2-4 with an RBI, Michelle Staley, who was 3-3 with a run, Haley Barbarits, who was 2-3 with a run and an RBI and Brianna seek who was 1-1 with a double and a run. Erika Blair also contributed to the win after going 1-3 with an RBI.
"We finally started hitting the ball hard and the good part is we got most of the players in the ball game," Wheelersburg coach Greg Bailey said.
Wheelersburg's Mallory Newsome was the game's winning pitcher.

The East Lady Tartans throttled Eastern in route to a 13-3 victory on Wednesday. Brittany Swords led the way going 4-5 with six RBIs, two runs scored and two home runs — including one grand slam.
Brooklyn Meadows also had a home run in addition to two RBIs and a run scored.
East's Haley Fisher was 2-3 with a double and two RBIs, Brookelyn Newell was 1-1 with a double and two runs, while Meghan Williams and Sierra Dingess were both 1-2 with a double and a run.
Fisher was also the game's winning pitcher.
"I was pleased with the way we hit the ball today," East coach Adam Bailey said. "I think we had nine different girls with a hit, so we hit the ball pretty well team-wise."

The Trojans pulled out a 3-2 win over Marietta in tennis action on Wedneday.
Winners for Portsmouth (5-0, 3-0) include Ian Rowland and Trevor Violette in singles play while the duo of Caroline Khoury and Evan Sommer posted a win.
"This was a really big win for us," Portsmouth Coach Chris Cole said. "We had to fight back in the last doubles match and we pulled it out."
Cole was referring to the Khoury/Sommer match when the PHS team trailed the first game 6-7 and came back to take the match.
