Born May 8, 1942 in Scioto County, a son of the late June Juanita Little Adkins, he was a driver for Pepsi Cola Bottling Company, was in the U.S. Army, First Infantry Division “Big Red One” and of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Madonna Loop Adkins, whom he married June 7, 1965; one son, Ronald William “Buddy” Adkins II; one daughter, Angela (Ryan) Swords; two grandchildren, Lance Swords and Chelsea Swords; three brothers, Bob (Lois) Adkins, Leslie (Kathy) Adkins, Michael “Mickey” (Ruby) Adkins; one sister, Betty (Raymond) Maynard; his father-in-law, Elton Loop; his brother-in-law, Steve Loop; sister-in-law, Sharon Cooper; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Adkins, and one sister, Gloria Shaw.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg with Pastor Emil Cartee officiating. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Military graveside rites will be conducted by James Dickey Post No. 23 American Legion.
