Born April 16, 1945 in Portsmouth, a son of the late Ernest Andrew and Dorothy Evelyn Allen Hickman, he was a 1970 graduate of Ohio University. He was a retired school teacher with 33 years of service and a Boy Scout Leader. He was a coach for Golf and Senior League Softball; he drove a bus for Lakefront Trailways, was a member of Lucasville Masonic Lodge #465, and 32 Degree Mason with Valley of Cincinnati.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Powell Hickman whom he married June 4, 1966; two sons, Eric Hickman of Batavia, Keith (Jill) Hickman of Cincinnati; one daughter, Kristi (Bill) Melvin of Portsmouth; ten grandchildren, Kasey Ann Hickman, Kori Ann Hickman, Kyla Ann Hickman, Gabe Keith Hickman, Allison Rae Hickman, Sarah Christine Hickman, Scott Jared Hickman, Miranda Joan Melvin, Macy Brice Melvin, Merrill Brook Melvin.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Rev. Don Pfleger officiating. Burial will be in White Gravel Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Masonic services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Friday by Lucasville Masonic Lodge #465.
