Children in crossfire of drug addiction

Children today are in such a precarious position; the laws are made to protect the parent from someone unscrupulously taking children from the innocent parent. However, it also prevents the child from being rescued from abuse and neglect from the drug-addicted parents and grandparents.

These parents are allowed to put the child in danger by placing them in homes where illegal drug activity occurs. Meth houses, crack houses — not only are they in an environment of being abused by addicts but by being in the crossfire of the drug dealing. We have seen it all too often.

What must happen before you save a child? Or will the child pay the ultimate price for the authorities having their hands tied?

I believe it is all about money for the courts and lawyers, the child is just a medical card and food stamps for the drug-addicted parents. What is it going to take before we start acting in the best interest of the children?
