Mary V. Mead, 29, of Piketon, operator of the ambulance, was transported by Green Township Fire and Rescue to Adena Regional Medical Center. Amy L. Ratliff, 30, of Waverly, a passenger in the ambulance, was also transported to Adena Regional for treatment.
The Chillicothe Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol investigated the crash on U.S. 23 in Green Township in Ross County.
According to Chillicothe Post Commander Lt. Mike Crispen, Mead was traveling south on U.S. 23 when the ambulance she was operating slid off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole and fence. The vehicle continued for a short distance and overturned on to its side.
Crispen said the ambulance was not in an emergency status at the time of the crash.
U.S. 23 was closed for about an hour while crews worked to clear the scene.
The crash is under investigation.
