He was born Feb. 9, 1952, in Portsmouth, Ohio, a son of Garnet L. May Adkins of South Shore, Ky., and the late Raymond L. Adkins. Greg was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather (Pap) and brother, whose since of humor kept a smile on the face of his loved ones. He loved fishing, boating, playing pool and watching baseball. He was a former president and volunteer of the Stan Spence Little League in South Shore, Ky. He also served as an Army reservist, a South Shore police officer, volunteer firefighter, co-owner of Concrete Contractor Plus.
Greg was preceded in death by and has now been reunited with his father, Raymond L. Adkins; father-in-law, Floyd Goodman; and brother-in-law, Dwaine Goodman.
He is survived by his loving wife, Tana Goodman Adkins of South Shore, Ky.; two daughters, Tami (Jeff) VanBibber of South Portsmouth, Ky., and Tara J. Adkins of South Shore, Ky.; one son, Tim (Kathy) Adkins of Mason, Ohio; two brothers, Steve Adkins of Lloyd, Ky., and Danny Adkins of South Shore, Ky.; five grandchildren, Donavon Adkins, Deven, Drew and Dylan VanBibber and Jordan Roark; mother-in-law, Wanda Goodman of South Shore, Ky.; and man’s best friend Tanner Ray. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at the Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, Ky., with Rev. Kenneth Potter officiating. Friends may call at the Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, Kentucky 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday and from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Burial will be in Siloam Cemetery in South Shore, Ky.
