Falcons beat Wheelersburg

The Minford Lady Falcons were able to knock host Wheelersburg from the rank of the unbeatens with Wednesday night's 55-47 win at Wheelersburg.

"Laiken Gambill stepped up for us tonight," Lady Falcons coach Mark Chaney said.

Gambill led all scorers with 32 points and Abby Donahoe added 10.

The Lady Pirates were led by Molly Knapp with 23 points. Although his team allowed one player to reach more than 20 points, Chaney was glad to see all of the other Wheelersburg players under double-digits.

Minford returns to action Monday with a road game at Jackson.

The Portsmouth Lady Trojans were able to experience something Wednesday night that hasn't happened during in a while.

They won an SEOAL game.

Portsmouth was able to outscore host Chillicothe 15-7 in the fourth quarter and it helped springboard the Lady Trojans to a 36-30 win.

"It's nice to get the first win of the season," Portsmouth coach Tyson Phillips said. "...They're excited."

Hannah Foster led led the Lady Trojans with 16 points — nine of them coming in the fourth quarter.

Portsmouth scored one point in the third quarter, a free throw with 10 seconds left in the quarter. At the start of the fourth, the Lady Cavaliers led 23-21.

"It was a great team win," Phillips said.

The Lady Trojans return to action Monday when they host New Boston.
