Joan Corwin “Jones” Vulgamore, 85, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at the Traditions of Chillicothe following an extended illness.

She was born on May 20, 1925, in Waverly, Ohio, to the late Joseph R. and Marian Foster Jones.

She was united in marriage on May 20, 1946, to Donald F. Vulgamore who preceded her in death in March 1992. Surviving are a son, Joseph M. Vulgamore and wife Linda Jo Rice of St. Petersburg, FL; two daughters, Ann V. Courtright of Waverly, and Sally J. McKenna of Roslindale, MA; seven grandchildren, Alison Wisnom and husband Robert, Nick Courtright and wife Katie, Beth Courtright, Greg McKenna and wife Melissa, Laura McKenna, Alexandra and Victoria Vulgamore; two great-grandchildren, Eric and Ava Wisnom; and a niece, Rachel K. Weisenberger.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Julia Weisenberger.

Mrs. Vulgamore was co-owner of the former Lorbach Insurance Agency in Waverly from 1954-1976, a graduate of Waverly High School class of 1943, and a member of the Waverly Grace United Methodist Church, Waverly Study Club, and D.A.R.

Memorial services will be held at a later date, arrangements are under the direction of Botkin Funeral Home in Waverly.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made out to Ann V. Courtright for the Joan J. Vulgamore Scholarship Fund set up through the First National Bank, P.O. Box 147, Waverly, OH 45690.
