John Lindsay Monk, 37, of West Portsmouth, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2010, at his home.

He was born Nov. 18, 1973, in Portsmouth, to Douglas and Trula White Monk of West Portsmouth. He was a carpenter and a member of Carpenters Local No.472 of Ashland, Ky. He also attended Mount Zion Apostolic Church in West Portsmouth.

Along with his parents, John is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Ann Monk, at home; the mother of his daughter, Hope Elizabeth Frazie of Portsmouth; two brothers, Douglas Monk Jr. and Mark Edward Monk, both of West Portsmouth; a sister, Tessa Potts of West Portsmouth; five nephews; two nieces; and several great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, at Mount Zion Apostolic Church in West Portsmouth, with Rev. Donald S. Harr officiating, and interment in Scioto Burial Park. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday starting at 5 p.m. until the funeral hour on Thursday. Arrangements are under the direction of the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth.
