LUCASVILLE — It is one week until the curtains rise for the 2010-11 basketball season.

In what is the final tune-up, the Southern Ohio Conference hosted its annual preseason preview night where teams from the SOC Divisions I and II squared off. And in one but all instance, the bigger-sized schools prevailed.

In a contest between last year's respective conference winners, it was all but a contest between Oak Hill and New Boston. Although the Lady Tigers scored the first three points of the game, the Lady Oaks strung together 10-straight points en route to a 45-16 win.

The lone win by an SOC I school took place in the game right after the New Boston-Oak Hill contest. Tied at nine at the midway point, Clay outlasted Minford 15-14.

The action started with host Valley defeating Eastern Pike 33-21. Other winners include Waverly (18-12 over East), West (36-10 over Symmes Valley), Wheelersburg (26-6 over Notre Dame), South Webster (33-23 over Western Pike) and Northwest (32-20 over Green).

Oak Hill will start its defense of the SOC II crown Monday, Nov. 29 when the Lady Oaks host conference rival Minford.

The boys SOC preview will take place Friday at Northwest High School.
