McFarland takes SOC II match

Wheelersburg’s Mitchell McFarland took an early lead in the race SOC II “Golfer of the Year” on Wednesday, shooting a meet-low nine-hole score 36 at Dogwood Hills Golf Course in Chillicothe.

Jordan Tieman of West finished directly behind McFarland on the leaderboard, shooting a 39. Tieman and McFarland co-medaled in two non-conference matches earlier this season.

Portsmouth West, last season’s SOC II champions, finished four shots behind Waverly, the winners of Wednesday’s match. The Tigers were led by Jake Henderson, who finished with a nine-hole score of 40.

The next SOC II golf match will take place next Thursday at Shawnee Golf Course.
