Portsmouth falls to Fairland

The Portsmouth Trojans fell to their OVC foe the Fairland Dragons Monday evening, 11-7.

Fairland came out swinging Monday evening, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning.

Trailing by two runs before they were able to bat, the Trojans answered with three runs in their half of the inning, to take a 3-2 lead after the first.

The Dragons added three more runs over the next two innings, two which came in the second inning, and another run in the third, while holding the Trojans scoreless.

After three innings, the Trojans trailed the Dragons 5-3.

Fairland added another run in the fourth inning to take a three run lead, but Portsmouth fired back with two runs of their own to pull their deficit down to just a single run 6-5.

Over the next three innings, Fairland continued to score, adding five more runs to their total, while holding the Trojans to just two runs, to keep the Trojans from rallying to a victory.

Portsmouth will be in action again on Wednesday evening, as they travel to Coal Grove to take on the Hornets. Game time has been set for 5:00 p.m.
