Falcons soar over Oaks, 8-1

The Minford Falcons defeated the Oak Hill Oaks in baseball on Wednesday evening at Oak Hill High School.

Minford got another SOC II win on the season, improving their overall record to 7-2, and a conference record of 4-2, after soundly defeating the Oaks 8-1.

Senior Shawn Mersiel was nearly automatic from the plate Wednesday evening, as he went 4-5, and drove in two runs for the Falcons.

Fellow senior, Eli Daniels had a hot bat as well, going 3-4 from the plate and driving in a pair of runs.

Kody Kennedy was 2-4 on the evening for Minford, and drove in a run, while Jared Alley went 1-5 and had an RBI.

Minford pitcher Jacob McCaleb was the pitcher of record for the Falcons, throwing for a complete game, allowing four hits, four walks, and striking out four Oak Hill batters.

The Oaks and Falcons will square-off once again on Friday evening in Minford, in the final game of the two-game series. First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m.
