The East Tartans traveled to Beaver, Ohio Friday night and walked out with a big SOC I win over the Eastern Eagles at Eastern High School, 58-54.
The Tartans finished the night with two players reaching double figures, Akia Brown and Blaine Scott.
Brown led East on offense Friday night, scoring 29 points on the Eastern Eagles. He shined during the first and fourth quarters, where he wreaked havoc on the Eagles’ defense.
In the first quarter, Brown scored 12 of the team’s 19 points. He would one up his first quarter performance in the fourth, scoring 13 points.
Brown also shot well from the foul line, hitting 10 of his 13 attempts.
Blaine Scott also had a productive night on the hardwood for East. Scott added 10 points to the Tartan cause, hitting five two-point field goals.
The Eagles had a pair of double figure performances in their loss to the Tartans.
Ethan Leist led the Eagles’ offense, as he scored a team high 15 points against East. Ethan only had six points going into the game’s final period, but rallied, and added nine more points to his total.
Evan Leist finished just behind his teammate with 14 points.
The Eagles will look to rebound from their loss to the Tartans, as they host the Green Bobcats Tuesday night at Eastern High School. Tipoff will happen around 7:30 p.m.
East will be in action again on Tuesday evening, as they host their fellow SOC I rival, the Glenwood Tigers. Tipoff for the East and Glenwood game is set for about 7:30 p.m.
