The Valley Indians lost their second game in as many days, as they fell to the Chesapeake Panthers, 57-60, Saturday evening during the North Adams Classic, at North Adams High School.

After falling to the Minford Falcons on Friday night, the Indians were hopeful to rebound and pick up a win at the North Adams Classic against the Chesapeake Panthers, of the Ohio Valley Conference.

The game didn’t start well for the Indians who quickly fell behind the Panthers. After one period of play, the Panthers held a solid 15-point lead over the Indians, 21-6.

The Indians would have a great response to the first quarter though, holding the Panthers to only seven points in the second quarter. Valley’s offense got a breath of fresh air in the second quarter as well, scoring 13 points in the quarter, more than doubling their first quarter production.

Despite the second quarter turnaround, the Indians still trailed the Panthers, 28-19, at halftime.

Chesapeake came back with another 20-point quarter in the third, to increase their lead over Valley. The nine point deficit Valley faced at the end of the first half, had grown to a 15-point deficit, 48-33 by the end of the third.

Valley made a run for the game in the fourth quarter, nearly making the comeback. The Panthers were held to only 12 points in the fourth, while the Indians doubled their opponent’s score in the quarter. Despite scoring 24 points in the fourth, the Indians still fell short of the Panthers by the final buzzer.

The Indians were led by Bryan Rolfe in scoring. Rolfe finished the night with 19 points. Rolfe had a great fourth quarter, scoring 13 of Valley’s 24 points in the period.

Aaron Linne also reached double figures for the Indians, adding 12 points to the Valley cause.

The Indians will look to end the pain on Tuesday evening, as they travel to McDermott to take on their SOC II foe, the Northwest Mohawks. Tipoff is set for around 7:30 p.m.
