Led by two Lady Tigers in double digits, Waverly picked up a big home win over the Northwest Lady Mohawks Monday evening in Waverly. Laken Smith and Kilee Perdue led the Lady Tigers in their 50-38 victory over the Lady Mohawks.

Smith led scoring for Waverly, as she finished the night with 17 points. Nine of her 17 points came by way of the three-pointer, as she hit a three in every quarter except the second. It wasn’t all points for Smith though, as she also brought down a staggering amount of rebounds, which led to her earning a double-double. After final tallies, Smith grabbed 18 rebounds against Northwest.

Perdue had a great scoring night as well. After being held scoreless in the first quarter, and limited to just a single basket in the second quarter, Perdue went on to accumulate 13 points in total for coach John Bonifield’s Lady Tigers. She also had three steals and two assists on the night.

Northwest made Waverly work for every point they scored, according to Bonifield.

“We were getting good looks at the offensive end but couldn’t convert,” said Bonifield. “In the second half, we were able to get out on the break and get some easy baskets.”

Krista Crabtree’s Lady Mohawks slowly saw the game slip away from them. At the half, Northwest only trailed by five points, 19-14. By the end of the third, that deficit had risen to 10 points, 35-25, and the eventual 12 point deficit by the final buzzer.

Alexis Lisath had a good showing for Northwest Monday night. She finished the game with 18 points, all from the field. Abby Baer and Abby Hall also put up significant numbers for the Lady Mohawks, scoring eight and seven points respectively.

Waverly will take to the court again on Thursday when they travel south to Lucasville, Ohio to take on the Valley Lady Inidians. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.

The Lady Mohawks will host Wheelersburg Thursday evening. That game is set to tip at 7:30 p.m.
